E.S. MERCER

Black and white portrait of a woman with short hair, resting her chin on her hand, wearing earrings and a striped sleeveless top, looking directly at the camera against a dark background.

E.S. Mercer, aka Eva Mercer, is a novelist, lyricist, and visual artist drawn to stories about memory, identity, power, and the fragile places where love and control collide. Her work often explores what happens when truth is buried, rewritten, or stolen — and what it takes to reclaim it.

When We Were Mortals was her first novel and marked the beginning of a larger body of work that blends speculative worlds with deeply human emotion. She is currently working on her second novel, the first installment of a dystopian speculative series titled The Erasure Cycle, which continues her exploration of identity, resistance, and the cost of remembering.

When she isn’t writing, she creates conceptual photography centered on transformation, resilience, and self-expression. Across all of her work, she believes in telling the stories that refuse to stay buried.
